PURPOSE:To separate transuranium elements with an inorganic ion exchange body. CONSTITUTION:Titanium antimonate or tin antimonate gives a high distribution coefficient of 10ml/g or above in a 0.5-M nitric acid solution to a transuranium element such as plutonium or americium, it gives a large difference between the distribution coefficients of individual transuranium elements having different valence states, and it gives a large difference between the distribution coefficients of a transuranium element such as americium which is the same trivalent cation and a rare earth element. A radioactive solution incorporating the transuranium element is brought into contact with titanium antimonate or tin antimonate to separate the transuranium element. For the contacting method, titanium antimonate or tin antimonate is added to the solution incorporating the transuranium element, or the radioactive solution incorporating the transuranium element may be poured into a column filled with titanium antimonate or tin antimonate.
|
