PURPOSE:To detect signals stably without degrading the S/N of detected signals with the pickup for integrated magneto-optical recording media. CONSTITUTION:Light of a TM mode and TE mode are coupled within a waveguide by utilizing the higher harmonic component of a grating 9. The light of the TM mode and the TE mode are separated and guided by utilizing the directional coupling of the waveguide. The guided light are detected by discrete photodetectors 14a, 14b and 12a, 12b. |
