The assembly comprises a moulded plastics frame divided by integral crosspiece into equally sized and shaped areas, and inserts each formed as a sub-frame carrying a tensioned filter mesh and releasably secured in an area, with a peripheral seal for the joint between the main frame and each insert. Main frame and sub-frames are pref. of glass fibre reinforced moulded polyester, and the inserts may make a releasable press-fit or may be secured with isocyanate glue and be releasable by heating. Two or more inserts may be secured in overlying relationship in each area, or each insert may have two or more overlying meshes.
