The drain for the ureter consists of a catheter (2) with a straight main part, a curved part (7) at the proximal end, and a curved part (6) at the distal end. A thread (11') is attached to a point (9a) at the proximal end and then passes into the bore of the catheter. The thread passes through the length of the catheter and emerges at the distal end and extends beyond the end of the catheter for a distance equal to the length of the catheter.
