Coating, with parting cpd., cord-like bodies e.g. bitumen-coated steel strip, is by applying the parting cpd. immediately after coating with sticky substance. Coated strip is led into a bath consisting of a parting cpd. in an aq. suspension below 25 deg.C, taken around, via several roller sets with an arc of contact of at least 40 deg., at 15-30 m/min., cooled at the same time, and then coiled. Variants include a container (5) in which there are 3-7 rollers (pref. of Al alloy) at two or three levels at or below the suspension surface, and which has a cooling system. Rollers may have turbulence-producing vanes. Steel strip goes from the feed stand (1) to a bitumen box (2) equipped with heating and with a worm conveyor and contg. coating nozzles (3) and a felt skimmer (4). Steel strip has been immersed in the bitumen, then taken to the open-top box (5) which contains 5 rollers (7) for taking, several times, the bitumen-coated steel strip along a large arc of contact at two or more levels. Surplus parting cpd. suspension is removed from the strip by the brush (6), after the strip has left the bath. After this, the strip is taken via a hot-air dryer (8) and guide rollers (9) to the winding stand (10). USE/ADVANTAGE - System applies, with simple equipment, the parting cpd. uniformly and dust free.
