Described is a flow-control valve for an anti-blocking hydraulic brake system, the valve comprising a choke of constant cross-section (metering orifice 35) and a choke of variable cross-section (differential pressure controller 23, 37). The cross-section of the differential pressure controller is determined by the pressure drop across the metering orifice (35). The metering orifice takes the form of an interface between a channel (33) of small cross-section and a channel (34) of larger cross-section. At the interface between the two channels, the change in cross-section is preferably step-like. When fluid flows through the channels (33, 34), turbulence occurs in the interface zone (35), this turbulence reducing the effective cross-section of the laminar-flow region, thus producing a throttle action.
