The operating drive uses an electric motor (10) and an associated electromagnetic brake (16) with a brake winding (16a) energised in dependence on the detected motor revs and a ramp fucntion provided by a reference source (34). The revs are regulated via an electronic regulation stage (36,38) with a motor current regulator (38). The electronic regulation is used to adjust the motor speed from a normal value to a creep value, with a control logic for interrupting the current for the brake winding (16a) upon reaching the target point. Pref. the motor revs are indicated by a digital rev counter which provides at least 500 pulses per second at the normal motor speed.
