The vasometry device cooperating with the finger (45) of the patient has a cap-shaped housing (11) acting as a rest for the patient's hand, incorporating a vol. pulse sensor (30). The sensor extends through an opening (32) in the surface of the housing (11) so that its outer face (33) is biased into contact with the required finger (45) via a variable spring bias. Pref. the longitudinal axis of the vol. pulse sensor (30) lies at an angle of between 40 and 60 degrees to the plane of the base (12) of the housing (11). Pref. the sensor (30) operates using light reflection.
