Imidazole derivs. of formula (I) (where R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2 is lower alkyl; R3 is alkenyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or higher alkyl; R4 is H or lower alkyl; X is O or S atom) are new. Agricultural fungicide contg. (I) is also claimed. Prepn. comprises reacting (II) with (III) in presence of base such as potassium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium hydroxide, triethylamine and pyridine. Amt. of base is 0.5-5.0 moles per mole carbamoyl chloride. The reaction temp. is 20-150 deg.C, pref. 50-120deg.C.
