PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound industrially advantageously, by using phenyllactic acid as a starting raw material and treating it and an ammonia donor with a specific bacterium. CONSTITUTION:Phenyllactic acid (amount of it used is preferably 0.03-0.1M batch method) and an ammonia donor (e.g., ammonium sulfate, casein, glutamic acid, etc.) are treated with a bacterium, preferably Brevibacterium lactofer mentum ATCC-13869, Sporobolomyces gracilis FERM P-633, etc., preferably at 30-40 deg.C at 6-10pH, to give the aimed compound. |
