The fuel saving means 12 consists of a catching element 13 placed in the combustion chamber 3, said catching element having the form of an open box, a cup-shaped funnel or a cylinder closed at one end, its opening pointing towards the hind wall of the combustion chamber 3. The catching element is connected to a piping system 14 extending from the hind wall of the combustion chamber 3 in the upper portion of the combustion chamber up through its smoke outlet to the smoke flue 4 of the boiler 5 and from there back to the combustion chamber 3 where the free end 21 of the piping system opens near the nozzle of the oil unit 1. When using the fuel saving means 12 in a boiler unit with an intermittently working oil burner, two means 12 are used, being placed inversely symmetrical relative to the oil burner 1. <IMAGE>
