COPYING MACHINE AND ITS CONTROL METHOD

PURPOSE:To efficiently copy at an arbitrary copying mode without any waste of time and paper even when one side documents and both side documents are placed mixed by controlling carrying and ejection of each document by automatically discriminating the existence of image information on a backside of a document while being fed by an automatic document feeder. CONSTITUTION:An image sensor 215 is provided against the backside of the document passed through a document carrying path while the document placed on a document tray 201 is fed onto a contact glass 102 surface. The existence of the image information on the backside of the document is discriminated by CPU based on image detection signal by an image sensor 215. The one side document without any image information on the backside is ejected from the contact glass 102 surface after having a front surface exposed according to the detected result. With the both side document with image information on the backside, its front and backsides at the contact glass 102 surface or reversed by being passed through a reversal path after the front side is exposed, and the document is ejected from the contact glass 102 surface after the backside is sequentially exposed. This is continuously executed on all documents.
