PURPOSE:To improve the adhesiveness of polyester fibers to a rubber latex by treating the polyester fibers with a treating agent containing a specific chlorophenol compound and a RFL(resorcine formaldehyde latex) containing a specific rubber latex and subsequently treating the treated fibers with a treating agent comprising a RFL containing a rubber latex having a specified particle diameter distribution. CONSTITUTION:A polyester fiber cord is treated with the first treating agent comprising a RFL containing a rubber latex comprising a carboxyl group- introduced vinyl pyridine-styrene-butadiene terpolymer and a chlorophenol compound having a mol.wt. distribution containing as a main component a three- nuclear compound, a five-nuclear compound and a seven-nuclear compound of formula I, II and III which are produced by the copolymerization of P- chlorophenol and resorcinol with formaldehyde. The treated cord is subsequently treated with the second treating agent comprising the RFL of a mixture of the early condensation product of RF and a rubber latex which comprises the vinyl pyridine-styrene-butadiene terpolymer and whose latex particle distribution has peaks at <=100nm and at >=300nm, thus obtaining the polyester fiber cord improved in the adhesiveness to rubber matrixes. |
