The invention consists of a process for the preparation of N-dichlorooxophosphoranyl-P-mono-, di- or trialkyl or -aryliminophosphoranes RnCl3-nP=N-P(O)Cl2, which consists of reacting a chlorophosphorane PRnCl5-n with at least one compound of empirical formula R<1>3HCl2NOPSi.
