PURPOSE:To improve the charge and discharge property as well as to increase the battery capacity by composing a secondary battery with a positive electrode and a negative electrode which can be recharged, including a metallic chalcogen compound in a positive electrode, and including a carbon type substance to satisfy a specific requirement to a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A metallic chalcogen compound is included in a positive electrode, while a negative electrode is formed of a carbonaceous material. In this case, the negative electrode is made into a multilayer structure consisting of a core and a surface layer, and the carbon material of the core is formed that the d002 by the X-ray wide angle diffractometry is more than 3.36Angstrom and less than 3.45Angstrom . And, in the carbonaceous material at the surface layer, the G value difined by the formula G=IA/IB in the Raman spectrum analysis using the argon ion laser is made less than 2.0. In this formula, IA is the integration of the spectrum intensity in the wave number scope 1580+ or -100cm<-1>, while IB is that in the wave number scope 1360+ or -100cm<-1>. The multiphase structure of the carbonaceous material is composed of the core 1 and the surface layer 2 surrounding the core 1, concretely. |
