PURPOSE:To provide an air bag with which a crew is safety supported as far as a seat belt is used together, simply and at cheap price out of less material, by overlapping two pieces of sheet, sewing the outer circumference, and forming an air bag for an assistant's seat into a cocoon form constricted at the center part. CONSTITUTION:An air bag 15 for an assistant's seat is formed by overlapping two pieces of sheet, a front cloth 16 and an inflator side cloth 17, and sewing together along a sewing line 18. At this time, the two sheet pieces 16, 17 are mutually set in same contour and size and formed into a rectangle as a whole, but at sewing the width in the up and down direction of the center part is set narrower than that in the right and left direction so as to form into a cocoon form as a whole. By properly setting the fitting position of an inflator not shown in the figure, the front cloth 17 of the developed air bag is contacted with a front glass 5, and by recessing the center part of the inflator side cloth 16, a safety range SZ to support a human body 2 is enlarged. Hereby, an air bag formed out of less material than conventional one and having high safety is obtained. |
