PURPOSE:To make it possible to prevent an image from deterioration caused by ununiformity of sound speed in a testee body by using a small amt. of hardware in an ultrasonic image pickup system for obtaining a tomogram of the testee body based on ultrasonic irradiation. CONSTITUTION:A phase detecting device 45 detecting ununiformity of sound speed in testee body in accordance with the phase of a received signal provides two sets of binarization devices 450 making the received signal of the inputting object into two values and inputs two received signals thereinto. A shift registering device 451 provided with different numbers of latch stages corresponding to binarization devices 450 and shifting two value signals outputted by the binarization device 450, while they are successively latched, and a detecting device 453 detecting phase fluctuation value of two received signals inputted into the binarization device 450 by detecting a mutually correlated value of these shifting binary signals, are provided to detect ununiformity of the sound speed in the objective body. |
