PURPOSE:To enable automatic and reliable detection of a defect of a seal from a video signal of a seal part by a method wherein binary-coded image information of an upper TV camera disposed above a ring-type illuminating device is compared with a good article image information by an image processing device. CONSTITUTION:When a sensor 7 detects that a bottle 1 conveyed by a conveyor device 2 comes just under a ring-type illuminating device 4, video signals of a seal part 3 caught by a TV camera 5 disposed just above the seal part 3 and by a plurality of TV cameras 6a to 6d disposed in peripheral parts thereof are sent to an image processing device 8. The device 8 subjects the video signal of each TV camera to a binary-coding processing, compares binary-coded image information thus obtained with good article image information and conducts various processings for discrimination. In the case when a seal is imperfect, an imperfection signal is sent to a sorting device 9 and an imperfect article is excluded automatically. |
