PURPOSE: To provide a mold capable of accurately reconstituting a buffer coat surrounding an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: The mold characteristically includes an elastic back plate 38 provided with a main surface 42, a passage 48 extended through the back plate 38 to substantially restrict a buffer coat and a 1st main surface slit extended from the main surface 42 up to the passage 48. The passage 48 of the back plate 38 is formed by floating a master fiber with the same size as an optical fiber for molding the buffer coat and molding it from a supporting part. The back plate 38 is provided with arm members 34, 36 on its both the sides, and when the back plate 38 is curved by using the members 34, 36, the master fiber is extracted, an optical fiber 54 including a part 56 for reconstituting the buffer coat is arranged on the passage as a substitute and molded. |
