OVERCURRENT DETECTION CIRCUIT AND COMPOSITE ELEMENT USED THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To enable detection of overcurrent at a low cost and with a saved space and achieve the solution of the problem on insulation easily between the primary and secondary of a switching power source. CONSTITUTION:An overcurrent detection circuit is made up of an open magnetic path type inductor L2 for removing high frequency ripples incorporated into an output-side rectifying/smoothing circuit 12 of a switching power source and a Hall element HS mounted near the inductor L2. An output of the overcurrent detection circuit is sent out to an overcurrent protection circuit 16 to operate for protection of the switching power source with the overcurrent protection circuit.
