The invention relates to occlusion pigments based on zirconium silicate as the covering substance and chromium(III) oxide as a discretely occluded coloured compound. The occluded Cr2O3 has a D50 value of 0.1 to 3.0 mu m and is a brilliant light green. Compared with non-occluded Cr2O3 having the same D50 value, the pigments according to the invention can be used without trouble for the production of decorations. They are also suitable for direct printing and high-temperature firing-on processes. The pigments are produced by calcining a mixture of zirconium dioxide, silicon dioxide, mineralisers and chromium oxide.
