摘要 423,369. Electric alarm clocks. BRITISH SANGAMO CO., Ltd., and BUTHERUS, F. R., Cambridge Arterial Road, Enfield, Middlesex. July 31, 1933, No. 21521. [Class 139] An electric alarm clock driven by a synchronous electric motor is arranged so that at any predetermined time a gong-striking member (45, 47, 49) rotates to a position where it is coupled directly with means (constantly running wheel 6) actuated by the motor, so that the member vibrates and gives an alarm. The synchronous motor, (not shown), drives a shaft 1 which, through gearing 3, shaft 2, and gearing 5, rotates a shaft 4 carrying a wheel 6, the teeth of which actuate the alarm piece 49 against spring 50, piece 49 being rigid with shaft 47 and alarm hammer 45, 46. Shaft 4 drives, through train 8, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12, a wheel 13 loose on shaft 14 carrying the minute hand 17. Rigid with shaft 14 are a pinion 15 and a friction plate 16 which contacts with wheel 13. In a central hole of the dial 27 there rotates an alarm setting disc 26 which is loose on the hour sleeve 24 and is geared by wheels 33 to shaft 30 which has rigid with it an alarm setting knob 31 and a cam 37. A 24-hour index surrounds the disc 26. The cam 37 coacts with a notched member 38 on a wheel 34 which is loose on shaft 30 and is geared to a wheel 23 rigid with the sleeve 24 carrying the hour hand 25. Straddling the wheel 34 is a fork 43 on a lever 40 pivoted at 41 and having a cam piece 44 which in its normal right hand position raises the hammer arm 45 out of action. The alarm shaft 30 being turned to set the alarm for a certain time, the piece 38 and wheel 34 are moved left against spring 39. At the alarm instant, cam 37 registers with notch 38, wheel 34 moves to the right, lever 40 moves counterclockwise and cam 44 allows arm 45 to be lowered by spring 50 so that piece 49 coacts with the teeth of the constantly running wheel 6 and the alarm is sounded until continued rotation of wheel 34 forces cam 37 out of notch 38, whereupon wheel 38 rocks lever 40 clockwise to relock the hammer 45, 46. To disable the alarm, knob 52 is pressed inwards to rotate a lever 55 clockwise about its pivot 56 so that a notch 57 therein raises and locks the alarm hammer 45. A slot in lever 55 coacts with a pin on lever 40 so that as the wheel 34 continues its normal rotation and moves the upper half of lever 40 to the right to relock the alarm hammer, the pin and slot connection automatically moves lever 55 counterclockwise to remove the notch 57. To permanently disable the alarm, knob 64 and sleeve 60 are rotated so that an arm 63 on the sleeve raises the alarm hammer 45, 46 and piece 49 out of action. The two disabling members 52, 64 may be combined into one member which has both axial and rotary movement. Hand-setting apparatus.-The hand-setting shaft 18, 20 is geared by wheels 21 to a pinion 15 on the minute hand shaft 14 and by gear 22 to a wheel 23 on the hour hand sleeve 24, the gear ratio of the two trains being 1 : 12.
