The appts. for has a sound source (2) operating within a limited range, e.g. 20 to 50 cm. with frequency 5 to 13 kHz is contained in a small housing. Also contained within the housing is a microphone (1), amplifier (6), loudspeaker (3) and battery, for attachment to the collar. The sensitivity of the microphone is adjustable via a control and its response is tuned to the characteristic spectrum of the dog's bark. An adjustable reference signal (4) is compared (5) with the microphone input which on exceeding a preset threshold triggers the source. USE/ADVANTAGE - Automatically provides effective deterrent without intervention of handler or exceeding veterinary safeguards. Does not disturb surrounding environment, is compact and light-weight.
