The thermal efficiency of prior art thermal power installations does not exceed 50 %. The oscillating piston motor of the invention and the installation comprising it makes it possible to improve this efficiency. The oscillating piston motor comprises a cylinder (2) with cylinder heads (3, 4) connected on both sides thereto and a piston (42) fitted to move axially in the cylinder with a piston rod (40) extending through one cylinder head (4). The piston (42) is connected to a steam outlet pipe (41) extending through the other cylinder head (3) and steam passages (51, 52) are provided in the piston (42). The piston (42) surrounds a steam outlet valve (54) movable axially to it, with the outer surfaces (90, 91) of the steam outlet valve (54) running obliquely to the cylinder axis. In both cylinder heads (3, 4) there is a steam inlet valve (13, 14) which co-operates with an annular aperture in intermediate members (34, 35) of the cylinder heads (3, 4). The steam inlet valves (13, 14) are actuated by annular control elements (57, 58) connected to the piston (42), arranged on both sides thereof and running parallel to the axis of the cylinder. |
