The method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display element, which has a pair of glass substrates (1a,1b) placed face to face with each other, is characterized by (a) junctioning two glass substrates (1a,1b) using an ordinary packaging material (2) and an auxiliary packaging material (3), which are formed at a distance on the glass substrate (1a), and (b) cutting the glass substrate and removing the coated part with the auxiliary packaging material (3) to obtain a liquid crystal display element having a uniform cell gap.
