Method of separating constituents of combined metal and plastics section - involves low temperature cooling of strip followed by passage between profiled rolls to fragment embrittled plastics

The process depends on low temp. cooling of the strip until the plastic constituent becomes brittle. The strip is then deformed to fragment the embrittled plastics, which falls away leaving the metal base intact. The process is performed on a plant line consisting of a low temp. cooling chamber followed by defining rolls (5) in which the strip is passed between two profiled rolls (8, 9) with an adjustable gap (10). ADVANTAGE - For profiled parts, tubes, flat plates etc.. Cost effective environmentally friendly process avoiding hazards of conventional methods.
