DNAs encoding antigens of mammalian, particularly of rodent and human, Pneumocystis carinii, which are antigenically related to the gp116 major surface antigen of rat and human P. carinii; P. carinii DNA containing nucleotide sequences homologous to the antigen encoding DNAs; RNAs, proteins, monospecific antibodies and chimeric molecules derived from the DNAs; probes and diagnostic methods, vaccine compositions, anti-P. carinii agents, and prophylactic/therapeutic methods for treating P. carinii infection and pneumonitis are described. |
