Mechanism for swivelling a seat cushion support on a vehicle seat from position (A) to a more inclined position (B). The swivel element is a prestressed spring (10) which is held between the seat frame (1) and a lever arm arrangement (6,7,8). The spring is held in the inoperative position by an explosive bolt (11). This is released when subject to an acceleration sensor signal sent via wires (13). ADVANTAGE - Does not require a cable or a pyrotechnic gas generator to effect reliable actuation.
