Sepg. metals e.g. copper@ and noble metals form solns. - by means of dissolved hydrogen@ in loop reactor, for use e.g. in galvanising installations

When sepg. metals, e.g. copper and noble metals from solns. and waste waters, including those contg. chloride and/or acids, the metals are sepd. by means of dissolved hydrogen. Pref. the soln. is treated with hydrogen at a pressure 0-1 MPa, with the amt. of dissolved hydrogen used varying from 0.6-1.8 kg/m3, at a temp. 10-60 (pref. 15- 50 deg. C. The installation constitutes a loop reactor consisting of a container (1), a circulation pump (2) for delivering gas and liq. mixts. in a stable manner, a gas disperser (3) for drawing off and dispersing gaseous hydrogen, equipment (4) for sepg. solids, and (if required) a pump (5) for continuous addn. of the soln. being regenerated. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method can be used, for example, in galvanising installations, in the printed circuit industry etc.. It does not produce sludge with a metal residue. It can be used (without additional complications) with solns. contg. chlorides. It does not require use of additional chemicals, and does not involve high temps. and pressures (resulting in high operating and plant costs).
