The transformer or choke has three windings and three sets of laminations (3, 4, 5) clamped betweem top and bottom plates (6, 7) and uses two bolts (8, 9) each side to hold the plates is tension. Each plate is stepped at each end to form a shaken surface (61, 71) to clamp the yoke laminations (1, 2) above and below the windings. Each plate has tongues (62, 72) along opposite sides, bent over vertically to simplify mounting and anchoring and horizontal parts for the bolts. The plates can also be bent over at the ends to form jaws (66, 67; 76, 77) for retaining the ends of the yoke laminations (1, 2) between them.
