Bent round opposite edges of a substrate which can be of ceramic material, are metal strips (3), the lower parts forming connection points, and the upper parts forming a gap, across which a fuse wire (5) is secured. The whole can form part of a multiple fuse arrangement on a circuit board, fitted with a protective cover. At the connection point, each end of the fuse wire, is a protective resin coating (8) e.g. an epoxy resin coating, and a bonded connection is used. Between the wire and the metal strip is an aluminium coating (7) and around the wire at the connection point (10) is an aluminium coating (9). At this point, the wire is deformed under pressure to assist connection. Connection can be made by using metalisation and holes through the substrate.
