The appts. contains a transmission light sensor (17a-17c) mounted at a defined position near the outlet of a grass outlet tube above a grass collection box (11). A signal duration detector determines when a light blocking state has existed for longer than a defined period and generates a corresp. signal. Warning devices react to this signal by triggering an alarm indicating that the box is full. The signal duration detector is reset when the light blocking state is interrupted within the defined period. ADVANTAGE - Enables accurate measurement of grass box contents unaffected by state or type of grass or operating conditions.
