<p>A data bank update system comprises a central administration centre having a main data bank (11), at least one terminal (12) connected to the data bank (11) for read-only purposes and capable of creating data-altering messages, and means (13) for receiving each such message and automatically updating the main data bank (11) accordingly. Preferably at the same time, the message is stored in a back-up store (14) and is also passed to a store-and-forward unit (20), for calling up by remote computer apparatus (30a, 30b...) to update data bases held by them.</p> |
