A probe (6) permits the determination of the size required for a nucleus prosthesis which can be filled with a fluid and comprises a needle (7), a balloon (9) and a fluid supply device. A nucleus prosthesis with an introductory device comprises a hollow body fillable with a fluid which can be so filled in the intermediate vortex space, in which the introductory device has a supply pipe surrounding the nucleus prosthesis in its empty state on its introduction into the intermediate vortex space and with cross-sectional dimensions suited to the size of an operation access in anulus fibrosus, with which the nucleus prosthesis may be positioned in the intermediate vortex space.
