PURPOSE:To make a backlight system with which a liquid crystal board is irradiated from a rear surface high in brightness and thin in thickness. CONSTITUTION:A casing 11 is formed to be rectangular in a state where on surface is opened, and the opened surface is formed as an irradiation opening part 12. A reflection surface 15 is formed on the inner surface of the casing 11. A fluorescent lamp 14 opposed to the opening part 12 is disposed on an end face part 13 inside the casing 11. A light transmitting member 16 where a metal coating 17 is formed over one surface is disposed to be opposed to the opening part 12. A light diffusion transmitting member 18 is disposed on the member 16. Since the light from the lamp 14 is guided in a direction orthogonally crossed with the axial direction of the lamp 14 by the reflection by the coating 17 and the reflection surface 15, the brightness of a light emission surface is made uniform. Then, the lamp 14 is disposed at the end of the casing 11, so that the thickness of the casing 11 is made thin. |
