PURPOSE:To increase the degree of freedom of a map display by using the same data in common, to display a map to a proper scale according to the distance between a destination and a current position so that the map includes both the destination and current position, and to enlarge and display the map as the destination is approached. CONSTITUTION:The scale of the map to be displayed is determined according to the distance between the current position of a vehicle and the set destination and a specific area for displaying the map including the current position and destination is specified on an absolute coordinate system according to the scale, current position, and destination; and point coordinates of at least plural map constitution points in the specific area are extracted and then converted into display coordinates of a display coordinate system. Connection lines are displayed by routes between plural display points on the display coordinate system which are prescribed with the coordinate-converted display coordinates to generate plural routes and those routes are used to display the map of the specific area, i.e., the map including the current point and destination. |
