PURPOSE:To prevent such failure that a main object is photographed small on the image plane of a film when the automatic zooming of the small main object existing near a large object is executed and to improve handleability. CONSTITUTION:By a multiple range-finding means 3, the range-finding of plural points in the viewing angle of a zoom lens is executed and the range-finding information thereof is outputted to a main object detection means 4 through a control means 1. By the detection means 4, a distance to the main object and the extending size of the main object are detected. Based on the extending size, such a first zooming focal distance that the main object of prescribed size can be obtained on the surface of the film is calculated by a first zooming focal distance arithmetic means 5. By a second zooming focal distance 6, a second zooming focal distance in conformity with the distance of the main object is calculated by referring to relation between a photographing distance which is frequently used and a using focal distance. Then, the automatic zooming is executed by comparing the first and the second zooming focal distances and selecting larger one by a zooming focal distance selection means 7. |
