<p>PURPOSE:To accurately detect bite of a rolled stock to work rolls by installing a rolled stock detection wave emitter, an air injector, a wave receiver converting the detected waves into electric signals, and a binarization device between upper and lower work rolls of a rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:In the case of reverse rolling a rolled stock 1 such as steel sheet, etc., by upper and lower work rolls 2, 3 of a reverse rolling mill RRS, a wave emitter 19 emitting light or ultrasonic waves into the gap between the rolls 2 and 3, a wave receiver 16 receiving the emitted waves, nozzles 22, 25 injecting an air jet into the gap are installed. Those light, ultrasonic waves, and an air jet are projected or injected into the gap between the rolls 2, 3 in parallel to detect the moment at which the stock 1 enters between the rolls 2, 3 and is bitten by the rolls 2, 3 by the receiver 16 indicating the moment by an electric signal. The position of the top end of the stock 1 between the rolls 2, 3 at both normal and reverse bitting moments in reverse rolling is accurately detected by generation of a binary signal indicating reverse rotations of the rolls 2, 3 at an electrical signal level.</p> |
