PURPOSE:To provide a reformer capable of joining with a plurality of cells while a reforming action and uniformity of temperature are being promoted by providing a device to reform the cell fuel in a laminated body and a specified joining parts to join the housing of the device to an adjoining cell. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of reformers 7 are arranged between fuel cells 2-1 to 2-11 of a laminated body 2. This reformer 7 reforms hydrocarbon fuel to produce hydrogen fuel, and leads it in the anode portion of the cell through a manifold 8 and the hydrogen fuel is electrochemically transformed together with an oxidant process gas supplied to the cathode portion, and then separated from the laminated body 2 through a discharge manifold 9. The edges opposed to each other of the housing of the reformer 7 are bent in the opposite direction toward the outside of the face of a plate, respectively, and again bent toward the center of the plate so that the anode side rail and the cathode side rail of respective adjoining cells are wrapped; and so that the adjoining cells are coupled and also the fuel is flowed along a U-type passageway. |
