PURPOSE:To obtain a machine translation system which can efficiently execute translation as a whole by designating a desired word constituting an original sentence by a designation means and fetching it in the header registration area of a user dictionary. CONSTITUTION:When a user intends to register a certain word or a word string in the user dictionary, a screen where the user dictionary is registered is called and the original sentence is inputted. Thus, the whole sentence where a cursor is positioned is set in a buffer A by the group of a word position and the word character string corresponding to the position. Then, a cursor position is set in the word position where fetching is to be executed. The word where the cursor is displayed is fetched into the header registration area of the user dictionary in accordance with the key input of the user. When there is input from the user, the type of the inputted character is judged by one character. Namely, the input operation of an English word is executed by freely combining fetching, clearing or editing. Thus, the efficiency of header input at the time of registering the user dictionary can be improved and an error reduces. |
