摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To make a stable image display, to enable high-speed operation, and to easily make a gradational display by forming a multi-layered MIM element which has plural insulator layers by laminating metal and an insulator alternately. CONSTITUTION:The multi-layered MIM element which has plural insulator layers is used as the MIM element of the liquid crystal display device which uses the MIM element as a liquid crystal driving element. Further, the number of the insulator layers of the multi-layered MIM element 1 is determined corresponding to the number of desired gradational display stages of liquid crystal. In this case, a driving voltage which is larger than a threshold value is applied to the multi-layered MIM element and ceased to apply a voltage to liquid crystal of picture elements and cease it, and thus its optical property is changed to display a desired image. Further, the level of the voltage applied to the liquid crystal is varied to make a gradational display. The applied voltage is varied within a range of stages corresponding to the number of the display stages of the desired gradational display to make the desired gradational display more easily and securely.</p>
