PURPOSE:To save power consumption, and to lengthen the life of a battery, etc., by stopping the servo control of disk rotation for a null period, and outputting the drive control signal of a disk discontinuously at every prescribed period. CONSTITUTION:Usual reading operation is executed during the readout of data. Namely, the servo control is activated, and a spindle motor 1 is driven and rotated by a continuous driving signal. At the time of read-out from a laser output control circuit 19 to an optical pickup 2, a laser output value is set lower than at time of the recording, and the saving of the power consumption is attained. At the time of the completion of the read-out, the servo control of the motor l is stopped, and simultaneously, a spindle driving signal is given discontinuously at every period f1, and the motor 1 is driven by inertia. The minimum laser output required for focus servo and tracking servo is given to the pickup 2. This value is made lower than a read-out laser level value. Thus, the power consumption during the void period in which no read-out operation is executed excepting during the read-out of the data can be reduced. |
