Electronic flow control unit for fitting to existing water taps - has housing fitted over supply pipes and with integral solenoid valves and proximity sensor

The control unit has a backing plate (5) with holes wide enough to fit over existing pipe stubs (1). The pipe stubs are external threaded and the backing plate is secured using a pressure plate (2) and a fitting nut (3). The flexible pipe connection (8) is then fitted and this leads to the solenoid valve (10) clipped onto the plate. An outer cover (14) carries connections to the existing taps. The control unit includes a proximity sensor (30) which operates by IR, ultrasonic etc. to switch the solenoid valves when the user positions his hands near the sensor. Adjusters under the control unit adjust the sensitivity and range of the sensors. ADVANTAGE - Simple retrofitting, simple to fit, hygienic conversion for existing taps.
