The medical plaster incorporates a lead layer which absorbs gamma or X-ray radiation. This lead layer is either smooth or with greater thicknesses is folded or laminated so that the plaster can conform to the body contours of the patient. On its packaging the plaster carries an indication of the absorption value of the clinically most important isotope. The plaster has at its base a wound-covering layer with adhesive zones, above which is the lead absorbing layer. There is an intermediate layer of cellular material, and an outer plastic covering. ADVANTAGE - To protect the ambiance of a patient being treated with a radio-isotope therapy.
