<p>A joined metal-ceramic assembly formed from a ceramic member (2) and a metallic member (4) which are butted and joined together with an intermediate layer (6) interposed therebetween, wherein a joining surface (10) of the ceramic member at which the ceramic member is joined with said intermediate layer includes a rounded peripheral portion (8) which has a substantially arcuate cross sectional shape. A method of producing a metal-ceramic assembly is also disclosed.</p>
