Testing arrangement for investigating the properties of lubricants and/or materials includes; (1) a mounting for a stationary testing-component with a stationary flat testing surface; (2) an arrangement for measuring the forces that are transferred from the testing-component in at least one measurement direction parallel to the surface, onto the mounting; (3) an oscillating drive-unit for an oscillating counter test-component, with an oscillating surface that can be applied to the stationary test surface; (4) a loading arrangement acting on the drive unit for exerting a vertical test-load on the surface and the counter surface. A spherical drive-transmission surface is provided for engaging the cup on the oscillating counter-component. Also claimed are the suspension arrangement and oscillating drive. USE/ADVANTAGE - This development of earlier testing arrangements, which have worked well in practice, is a further improvement on the reliability of their measurements.
