Optical information recording material (I) comprises: (i) a support; (ii) recording layer on (i) contg. a 4-component recording material of phase-changing-type of Ag, In, Te and Sb, and on erasure of information, contains a microcrystalline phase of crystallites of AgSbTe2; (iii) an upper heat-resistant protective-layer on (ii), which has a thermal conductivity of 1.0 W/cm.deg.; (iv) an optical reflecting layer on (iii). Also claimed is an optical information recording process using (I) comprising using a laser beam on the recording layer whilst it rotates at 1.2-5.6 m/sec. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) is suitable for use in re-recordable compact discs. It has a high life-expectancy, high erasure-ratio and a high write- and erase-sensitivity without a redn. in the C/N-ratio on which repeated writing and erasing are possible.
