The machine cuts stacked sheet material, having a table with a working area, above which are a knife and a press beam. An inlet area behind the working area accommodates the material to be cut, and an outlet area in front of that which has been cut, there being a feed mechanism for the former. An automatic thrust slide moves inthe direction of the line of cut (18) to press the material to be cut (4) against the lateral stop (51), while the effective width of the feed mechanism (29) is less than the distance between this slide and the stop.
