Each end section (20a, 20b) of the compensating pipe body (20) has an associated clamp (16, 18) attachable to one end (12a, 14a) of a pipe (13, 14). The closed circumferential sealing face (34a) is aligned with the wall of the relevant end section of the pipe body and runs parallel to it. The clamp has a ring-like contact pressure element (26, 28) movable up to the sealing face in order to press the end section of the pipe body against same providing a gas tight seal. The contact pressure element is fixed in contact pressure with this end section of the compensating pipe body. ADVANTAGE - Secure gas tight connection without the need for ring flanges on the connecting ends.
