PURPOSE:To improve a cycle characteristic by using, a mixture of an active material whose crystal structure is expanded in the case of discharging and is contracted in the case of charging and an active material whose crystal structure is contracted in the case of discharging and is expanded in the case of charging, as a positive electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:As for spinel type lithium contained manganese oxide Li1-x Mn2O4 (O<=x<=1), a crystal structure is expanded according to insertion of lithium ions in the case of discharging, and the crystal structure is contracted according to separation of the lithium ions in the case of charging. As for lithium contained cobalt oxide Li1-x CoO2 (0<=x<=1), a crystal structure is contracted in the case of discharging, and is expanded in the case of charging. Such two kinds of active materials are mixed with each other, and are used as an intercurrent type positive electrode active material of a battery formed by using lithium and so on as a negative electrode 1. Thereby, since the expansion and contraction of the crystal structures of both positive/negative electrode active materials are negated to each other in the case of charging/discharging, the lowering of strength in a positive electrode 4 can be restrained, so that a cycle characteristic can be improved. |
